I am an experienced Counsellor working with an integrative approach and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.  I have worked in many settings, including Relate, Sheffield Women’s Aid, NHS and Cruse Bereavement Care, offering different kinds of support to those who seek help.

I understand that it is sometimes difficult to come for counselling.  I offer a safe, peaceful and confidential environment to work through any issues you might be struggling to deal with alone.

I have experience in counselling men and women from different backgrounds and ethnic groups and will welcome you with warmth and empathy whatever your background.  I am also experienced in working with black minority ethnic clients, and have a keen awareness of issues facing minority ethnic people in Sheffield.

I work alongside my clients in a safe and confidential relationship to explore the areas causing personal issues or difficulties. I attempt to work with clients in a way that is sincere, genuine and respectful to their frame of understanding the world, and I will endeavour to see things from the client’s perspective. I am happy to work either short or long term depending on your needs.

My particular interests and skills include working with issues affecting the emotional well-being of women such as, stress and depression, bereavement and loss

I have many years' experience of working in the Voluntary and Statutory organisations including some of the following issues;

I am an experienced counsellor and member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. Before training as a counsellor I worked with the homeless in London.  More recently, I have worked as a counsellor for South Yorkshire Police and for the NHS, and I have experience of working with a wide range of issues including:

I use an integration of Person-centred therapy with interventions from a variety of approaches, depending on an individual’s needs. I like to work collaboratively with clients on establishing goals so that they feel fully involved in the process. I also promote self-help whenever possible so individuals can find their own coping strategies.

Often, people coming for counselling do not readily like themselves. I believe that counselling can play an important part in building self-acceptance. I aim to provide a safe, open and trusting relationship where individuals can gain personal insight and develop greater resilience to deal with life.
